Clothesline® is the Canadian Diabetes Association's clothing and household item collection program. In 2005, the program diverted more than 40 million kilograms of clothing and household items from landfill sites across Canada. Items accepted for collection include clothing, linens, dishes, toys, furniture* as well as knick-knacks. And now cell phones and PDAs can be donated to the Clothesline program! *Furniture pick-ups in select locations. Please call 1-800-505-5525 to find out if furniture can be picked up in your area. Throughout Ontario the Canadian Diabetes Association is working with Car Heaven. Vehicles donated through the Car Heaven program are environmentally recycled. Donors receive a free tow (valued at $200), and a tax receipt. In addition... if your vehicle is a 1995 model year or older and currently on the road you may be eligible to receive: $1,000 certificate towards a new GM vehicle. The Kidney Car Program is a fundraising initiative of The Kidney Foundation of Canada. People are invited to donate their old or unwanted vehicles to the Foundation. The vehicles are towed free of charge and recycled, or resold, and the donor receives a tax receipt (the amount varies by region) for the vehicle. Vehicles that are not resold are disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner: the car as well as the tires, battery and oil are recycled.
