The Belfountain Community and Planning Organization (BCPO) is a group of residents committed to preserving the rural, cultural and environmental integrity of the hamlet of Belfountain. The BCPO was originally formed to stop an unacceptable subdivision from being developed at the south end of Belfountain. This development is known as Enterac. The subdivision has not yet been built. The plans for the subdivision have been changed by the developer, with input from the BCPO, into a more acceptable plan. Since it's inception, the BCPO has evolved into an organization that also strives to improve the Belfountain community through various undertakings and events. The Caledon Countryside Alliance (CCA) is a Not for Profit agency. It's objective is to ensure that Caledon and the Headwaters region maintain their rural character. They think of Caledon's countryside as a permanent feature rather than land waiting to be developed. The CCA encourages people to think about and observe their rural surroundings. They want residents to decide why they chose to live in or visit Caledon or the headwaters region. They provide opportunities where people can come together to talk about these topics. They also, undertake research into the issues that effect the countryside.

The objectives of the Caledon Countryside Alliance are to:

  • Raise the awareness of citizens, government, business and other organizations within the Headwaters region about the value of countryside;
  • Identify, develop and distribute programs and policies that illustrate and promote countryside values; and
  • Foster an interest in the issues and problems in the countryside in order to enhance its unique character, values and function.

Clear The Air Coalition Inc. (CTAC) is a not-for-profit corporation with a mandate to work for the protection of the environment in parts of Peel and Halton Regions. It has been working for more than six years on behalf of a coalition of 10 ratepayer associations in south Mississauga and east Oakville to relocate an 800 megawatt gas-fired generating station being proposed by Sithe Energies on the Mississauga/Oakville border. More recently it has been assisting CHIP (Coalition of Homeowners for Intelligent Power) a group of four ratepayers associations in east Mississauga appealing the location of a 280 megawatt gas-fired generating station by Eastern Power adjacent the Queensway Hospital campus of the Trillium Hospital. Our SHARE-IT: COMPUTERS FOR COMMUNITY PROGRAM is an initiative to collect used computers and IT equipments (printers, scanners and cell phones) to distribute the refurbished units to the underprivileged and low-income families; and recycle the unusable components in an environmentally safe way.
